About

Helping people understand personal finance

Biren Finance exists for one reason: financial decisions are easier when you understand the mechanics behind them. Everything published here is practical, unbiased education — never a sales pitch.

The mission

Most money problems are not caused by a lack of discipline. They are caused by nobody ever explaining the mechanism — how interest is charged, what a credit score is actually measuring, why a fee that sounds tiny is not, what a tax bracket does and does not mean.

Biren Finance is an attempt to fix that gap for anyone who wants it: students, young professionals, families, parents, retirees, small business owners and complete beginners. Making financial education simple for everyone.

How the content is made

Every guide starts from the arithmetic. If an example says a balance grows to a certain figure, that figure was computed from the stated assumptions, and the assumptions appear next to the result — so you can disagree with them and rerun the numbers yourself using the calculators.

Where a fact comes from a public source, that source is a primary one: the IRS, the SEC, the Federal Reserve, the CFPB, FINRA or the FDIC. Where something is genuinely uncertain — future returns, above all — it is described as uncertain rather than dressed up as a forecast.

Who writes it

Biren is an independent finance educator and the author of everything published here: the written guides, the videos on @birenfinance, and the calculators. The tone is deliberately closer to a patient teacher than a financial influencer — calm, evidence-based, and free of hype.

How it is funded

The site is free and carries no sponsored investment recommendations. That matters because the moment education is paid for by whoever is being recommended, it stops being education. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed plainly on this page.

Standards

What this site does — and refuses to do

Trust is the entire product. These lines are not marketing; they are the rules the content is written against.

Always

  • Explain how money, credit, investing, taxes and retirement actually work
  • Show every assumption and every calculation, so you can check the numbers
  • Cite reputable public sources such as the IRS, SEC, Federal Reserve, CFPB, FINRA and FDIC
  • Say plainly when something is uncertain, disputed, or depends on your situation
  • Keep everything free — no paywall, no account, no upsell

Never

  • Give personalized financial, investment, tax or legal advice
  • Recommend specific investments, or publish buy and sell signals
  • Promise, imply or guarantee any return
  • Publish fabricated statistics, studies or quotes
  • Take positions on politics, or push products for commissions
